It is still full on winter (-35 degrees) and bottomless powder in Yukon NorthWest Territories. We did not make the 600 km trip to Norman Wells due to very deep powder, but made it half way and skiied fabulous un-named mountains in the MacKenzie Range! Came away with some great stock shots.
Two nights spent camped on “the barrens”, look at that light!
My friend, Tom, dwarfed by the mountains in the MacKenzie Range
It’s not cheap up there! We carried 28 jerry cans of gas in our sleds, $1100 (1400lbs) to make the 600km trip of which we made it half way.
Fun, fun, fun! Endless untracked light fluffy powder, at times up to your shoulders!
My friend, John, rippin’ it up. Beautiful dry powder shots!
The North Canol was abandoned in 1943. The original Army trucks that built the road lie scattered in bunches along the edge of the trail.
A very lonely border crossing into the NorthWest Territories.
Yes!!!! I managed to photograph the dancing Aurora Borealis at 2am on the last night. A fitting farewell to a wonderful experience.
We can see why the call of the North resonates with the visitor with the northern lights to guide your way!
